Instagram for fashion photography

Almost anyone with an iPhone will name Instagram as a favourite app, and it's quickly becoming a key tool for creatives in the fashion industry. Bloggers and brands alike are using Instagram to communicate fashion - everyone from the Man Repeller to Tiffany & Co. Tiffany even recruited photographer Scott Schuman to shoot images using custom Tiffany & Co Instagram filters.

Here's how I've used Instagram in relation to fashion -

For runway:

#5 by Rad Hourani with "Lo-fi" filter
Arthur Mendonca with "Valencia" filter

To show behind-the-scenes:

Using "Rise" filter

Using "Nashville" filter

To share a product:

Using "Valencia" filter on a Kate Spade wallet
My current favourite YSL nail colour using "Nashville" filter

It will definitely be interesting to see how fashion companies push the boundaries of social media marketing, and see if anyone decides to go a step further than Tiffany in that direction. How interesting would it be to see an Instagram print campaign?

This social media app is definitely pushing boundaries when it comes to defining fashion photography. What's your take?
