Layer King

My boyfriend always neatly layers all of his outfits, the images above are of some of his usual put-togethers. The double exposed, overlapping effects dramatize and unify the theme of this post.

DIY Princess

The theme of my photography photoshoot was very feminine and floral so i decided to put together a crown of fresh flowers. It turned out way better than i expected, i only wish that it would last a little bit longer than flowers last. If it did i would definitely make this piece a part of my accessory collection. What girl doesn't want to be a princess?

All photos were taken on my iPhone.

So I'm up editing an editorial I've been working on outside of school and I wanted to share a sample from the spread. It was shot with natural light with an f-stop probably about 2.8 and a shutter speed of 1/125. I don't recall the ISO for sure but it was probably around 1600.

Playing with Exposure.

I spent the night looking at a couple of pieces of jewellery. A mixture between edgy and fancy. Playing with the exposure allowed a different mood for the different pieces. With a high exposure the studs had a more grungy feel and the sunglasses and diamond bracelet had a more luxurious feel.

I decided to shoot jewelry using the lovely Jessica as my hand model, as something different from my last post involving street style. I tried to really put the focus on the jewelry, using saturated colors, brightening up the rings and bracelets so the eye would be drawn straight to them. I shot them indoors, and it was in the late afternoon not very sunny, so I used an artificial light source, and shot with an ISO of 800, F2.8, and a shutter speed of 1/100. I added a lens flare to one of the pictures to give it a more artistic & interesting effect.

Cozy in Knits

I've recently been working on new knits for next winter and with the cool winter like weather today I decided to shoot some of the new colours and styles. Even though it was overcast it was very bright out, especially with the backdrop of the city. I shot at ISO 400, Shutter 1/60 and aperture F6.3. The gorgeous Rachel J perfected the simplicity and casualness I was going for.

Urban Lady

These pictures were taken during our second photoshoot. It was very sunny that day so I used the Sunny 16 settings of ISO 100, F/16 and shutter speed of 1/60.  some adjustments were made in Photoshop after.  We wanted to have the sophisticated model stand out against the grungy and urban setting of the graffiti wall located in an old parking lot.

Leah

Behind the scenes of our model Leah in hair and makeup. The shoot ran incredibly smooth, and the team worked well together!

Street Style!

These photos were shot during fashion week ( I know this is a little late). I like shooting street style photography, I think it's a great way to capture the moment. Plus, I love the feather skirt she's wearing! This was shot in ISO 100, f1/16 and was adjusted in photo shop.

Photoshoot!!

Here are some shots from mine and Robynne's photoshoot!

Without giving too much away, we shot a minimalist look with Jeremy Laing garments, which you can see in the first photo.  The room was pretty dark but did have the studio lights so my ISO was set to auto and the rest was set on aperture priority.  The second shot I made my shutter speed 1/30th so I could create a blur to give an artistic effect.  The final shot is of our adorable model Leah from Elite getting ready for the shoot.  Enjoy!

and the playas play, like they do, like they did

my sister and I apparently look identical, but we have completely different styles. Everyone says she's the 'classic' one, and I'm.... interesting. I thought I'd take photos of her shoes, in a very bright, illuminating setting to really evoke her style...I had a high ISO and shot right beside a window to get as much light as
 possible.

I then took photos of some of my shoes (and bag) in a style fitting to my own. Here I focused on shutter speed and had it down to about 1/30.

Even though we're very different... i would still steal her shoes. Girl's got an addiction

Canadian Tuxedo

On a beautiful sunny day Yazmin and I decided to sit outside on Gould Street and enjoy the weather. I decided take a few shots of her outfit because she was rocking a lovely Canadian Tuxedo (and if you know yazzy you know she loves her denim). While taking these pictures I made sure to use the sunny 16 rule. Shutter speed 1/120, Aperture 16 and ISO 100.

Here she is wearing a denim shirt from the boys department in H&M.
Pants also from H&M.
Belt and shoes are from Aldo.

These images were taken for project 2 but couldn't quite make it into to the editorial. These images incorporate soft lighting through the use of key and background lighting plus fill light positioning and variations in which were defused. In the selection of these 3 images, the story altered from the original 1 look 3 ways to an accessory shoot on a model.
