There was love in the air this past week in Blenheim, Ontario. I spent my reading week busy as a bee helping plan, organize, and participate in my lovely sister Kelly's wedding to her now husband, Marcel. While I was a bridesmaid and didn't manage to actually snap too many high quality photos, I did catch some action shots of the event and wanted to share these.
Weddings are a great time to study a different style of fashion than typical daywear- formal wear is more prominent at weddings (at least here in North America) and its always interesting to study a bride's dress and see how it was influenced by today's trends. My sister's dress had lots of ruching; the layers of pleats and gathers help hide any midsection insecurities, which no bride should have to worry about on her wedding. I think the mermaid style dress also helped accentuate my sisters lovely, curvy body. In my family we have hips and we are proud of them, so the mermaid style dress certainly shows off her hips. All the bridesmaid dresses were different styles to suit each bridesmaids body type.
Enjoy the photos :)
All images were taken with a Canon G12 Powershot.
First image is of the blushing bride and her parents before the wedding being adjusted by the photographer for some pre-wedding shots.

The second image is a quick beauty shot of the bride before the wedding so she could see her hair. I think the lighting really helps accentuate her clear and glowing skin.

The third image is of the bride and her childhood best friend and bridesmaid. The way the light reflects off the fabrics of the gowns shows the difference in the fabric content, and shows how light in weight the bridesmaid dress was in comparison to the heavy, thick wedding dress.

The fourth image is of the dance between the bride and her father. The light is quiet bright in this photo and gives off a romantic, almost twinkling "Twilight" feel to the image. I think particularly in this photo you can see the love being exchanged between father and daughter.
The final image is of the happy couple having their first dance. True love right there folks.
