A Stroll Through the City

I saw this beautiful, gigantic coral necklace in a Queen West store window. So pretty!

These images above were taken inside F AS IN FRANK, another QW vintage store.

And lastly, continuing the theme from my last post, more bowties! Taken inside Courage My Love in Kensington.

Street style on campus and around Toronto

Here are three of my favourite street style images I've shot lately. The first two are very recent, where as the bottom one is from around November. I love this man - doesn't he remind you of Santa? I think street style images look best with a shallow depth of field, so I keep my camera in aperture-priority mode. I do want to be able to get an even shallower DOF, so I'm looking at getting another lens for my D90.

While it's nice to see the straight on images of full outfits, I also really like detail photography. Tommy Ton creates beautiful detail shots, and I always find myself browsing his blog for inspiration. Who are your favourite street style photographers?

A Pop Of Colour..

With spring just around the corner I was inspired by all the bight colours that are in stores now. Julie's bright poppy red jcrew mini pants and gold sperry topsiders seemed like a good jumping off point!

Catrina Chen is hot.

Catrina Chen and I decided to dress each other up and take photos of each other. Revolutionary. I used the afternoon sun to my advantage especially while playing with my own shadows in the photos. The shadows fill negative space and add visual interest and direction to an already beautiful girl and outfit.

Sunday Afternoon with Jed

Here are a few shots I took while spending some quality time with my good friend Jed Heinrichs.
It was a strikingly cold day, despite the sunny look of the photos but we did get some great shots.

Cozy in Knit

On a Sunday afternoon, I couldn't have asked for better lighting.  Anticipating there wouldn't be a parka needed to step outside... I was very wrong.  Sitting outside on my porch, Mary toughed out the freezing cold and tried to keep warm as much as possible with her marymade knit scarf. Her burgundy shirt and grey scarf were perfect contrasts against the worn wood backdrop.

Open Room: Accessory/Make-up Wall

This is my make-up/accessory wall in my room! The background are tears from the Vogue Covers book- something I added just last summer when I renovated my room, and I thought it would be cool to take some shots of it.

These are shot using a Nikon D5000 and I used the SCENE setting, under HIGH. As you can see, this setting automatically allows your image to be brightly lit; it uses ISO between 1100-1600, F-Stop 3.5, and shutter speed of 1/25 to 1/30.
